Nicole Kröll is a Senior Scientist at the Institute of Classical Philology, Medieval and Neo-Latin Studies at the University of Vienna and the principal investigator of the FWF-funded project Digressions in late antique Greek historiography, which focuses on narrative forms in Greek prose works of Late Antiquity.

Her research in classical philology also centers on the analysis of compositional structures of late antique Greek poetry, particularly in the works of Nonnus of Panopolis and George of Pisidia. Dr Kröll has conducted research projects on both authors: Poetry - Character - Design: Narrative Strategies in the Dionysiaca of Nonnus of Panopolis (FWF Hertha Firnberg Program, 2017–2020, Grant DOI 10.55776/T875) and Narrative Strategies in the Poetry of George of Pisidia (FWF Elise Richter Program, 2020–2025, Grant DOI 10.55776/V80).

As part of her historical research, she is the author of the edition Visitationsprotokolle im Kontext frühneuzeitlicher Konfessionalisierungsprozesse: Die bischöfliche Visitation des Jahres 1582 in Pfarren im Wiener Umland (Böhlau/Brill 2024).
