"Narrative Strategies in the Poetry of George of Pisidia" (Elise Richter Project V-803)
The project seeks to examine five central topics:
- the application of different literary genres and narrative techniques,
- the tradition and modification of pagan mythology and biblical narratives
- the implementation of rhetorical techniques of persuasion and visual representation
- the reflection of the emperor's political and spiritual agenda by means of narrative techniques, and
- the performative aspect of the poems which are designed to address a particular audience in a specific socio-cultural environment.
